Tussar sarees are crafted from Tussar silk, a type of wild silk produced mainly in Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh. Unlike mulberry silk, Tussar silk has a coarser feel and a matte-gold finish, giving the saree a distinctive, organic charm.

These sarees often feature handwoven textures, tribal or traditional motifs, and natural dyes. Designs may include floral patterns, geometric borders, temple motifs, or artistic prints, sometimes enhanced with kantha work, block printing, or hand painting. The pallu and borders are usually highlighted with contrasting colors or subtle zari work.
